Almost There: A Message from Dr. Daniel J. Vitow, Headmaster

As we begin a new school year, I am so happy to share with you my delight that we are almost back to the pre-pandemic, vibrant, powerful, and dynamic learning experience which has always been the hallmark of North Shore Hebrew Academy High School.

I am enormously proud of the way our students faced the restrictions that made last year such a challenge. Many of those constraints have been lifted: we are fully in-person, our sports and co-curricular programs are back in full swing, our revitalized Tarbut program will invite you to partake in the rich cultural offerings available in New York City, and we have many special events planned. I encourage everyone to participate in all that NSHAHS has to offer. Explore your interests, get involved, and develop the best “you” possible.

Our enrollment is at an unprecedented high. Our staff is diverse, dedicated, and determined to make your years here exciting, productive, and revelatory. Our academic programs are supported by the most up to date technology.

Yes, we still need to follow the recommended protocols. Yes, we still need to wear our masks and avoid unnecessary close contact with each other. Testing is still necessary to keep us all safe. We are not there yet, but we are almost there, poised for a full return to normal when the science tells us it is appropriate.

Who will you be on the day you graduate? It’s up to you. It is going to be a great year.
